Power Outages

Protocol & Safety Instructions

Power outages can happen at anytime with or wihtout warning. In the event of an outage, all electrical systems in the building may shut down unexpectedly. It is a normal tendency to want to contact The Collection’s Lobby Desk to get information, however, do not contact the Lobby Desk. We’ll need to keep the line available in the event someone needs assistance during a medical or other emergency.

Instead, please contact Hawaiian Electric’s Trouble Line:

1-855-304-1212

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In the event of a power outage, sensitive equipment such as computers, kitchen appliances, air conditioners, etc. may be damaged from the sudden activation of power. Ensure your sensitive equipment is plugged in to surge protectors. Keep the following in mind: You have a responsibility to protect your equipment from power interruptions and power fluctuations. The rules of the Hawaiian Electric Companies’ tariff, approved by the Public Utilities Commission, say that customers should equip their motors and electronic equipment with devices to protect them from power interruptions and power fluctuations.

  • It is important for residents on life support or in need of emergency equipment to make alternate plans should an outage occur.
  • If you are cooking, ironing or using any appliance or tool that could cause a fire if left unattended, be sure to turn off these items.
  • Only contact The Collection’s Lobby Desk for emergencies. We’ll need to keep the line available in the event someone needs assistance during a medical or other emergency.

  • DO NOT try to force open the elevator doors.
  • Never try to exit a stalled elevator car — it is extremely dangerous.
  • Always wait for trained and qualified emergency personnel.
